The EQ is one of Atlantic Canada’s most exciting original jazz groups lead by bassist/composer Tom Easley. Drawing from folk, rock, and jazz influences, it is immediately evident that this group veers sharply to the left of the genre’s centre. Winner of Music Nova Scotia’s 2019 Jazz Recording of the Year, the group features Tom Easley on bass, Mark Adam on drums, and the dual guitar attack of Geordie Haley and Kevin Brunkhorst. The EQ has performed at some of Canada’s most prestigious festivals, including The Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, and most recently The Shivering Songs Festival.
“Easley’s ability for disguising complexity by quickly establishing strong, memorable themes on each of the album’s tracks help make this collection accessible and enjoyable for new ears and jazz music devotees alike.” Grid City
“Easley’s skills as a musician, a writer and an arranger are on full display throughout the entire album with each track as simple or complex as your ears want to make them.” The East
