We’re happy to present an excellent songwriters’ circle featuring Andrew Rodgers, Chris Kirby, Isabella Samson and Joe H Henry at The Carleton on Thursday, October 10th. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $30 + HST.

Andrew Rodgers is a singer-songwriter based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Andrew is also a founding member of the band, Fairgale who has shared the stage with musical luminaries including: Arkells, Lights, Melissa Etheridge, Blue Rodeo, Sloan, and Fairgale has even performed with Trooper & Bryan Adams during a rendition of Trooper’s classic hit, “We’re Here For a Good Time (Not a Long Time)”, at the 2018 George Street Festival. The band is looking forward to playing the main stage of The Sommo Festival in PEI on September 14, 2024 where they will open a show headlined by Greta Van Fleet.

Chances are you’ve heard a Chris Kirby song lately. The Newfoundland born, Halifax based award winning artist has co-written hits for The Trews, Matt Andersen, The East Pointers, Quote the Raven, and many more. Published through Sound of Pop, many of Chris’ songs have appeared in major television shows, commercials, indie films and documentaries. Kirby is so in-demand as a songwriter, producer and musician that he rarely gets a chance to release his own music. These days he is most often found sitting behind a Hammond B3 organ on-stage or in-studio with Matt Andersen. Kirby has also toured with the likes of Alan Doyle, Amy Helm, Big Sugar and Wide Mouth Mason.

2022 Canadian Folk Music Awards Young Performer of the Year and winner of Music Nova Scotia’s Folk/Roots Album of the Year, Isabella Samson has been making serious waves in the East Coast. A tasteful glimpse into the mind of a young woman navigating life, love, and the world around her, Samson’s music has been described as a perfect mix of Joni Mitchell and Lizzy McAlpine. She has been recognized for her remarkable ability to captivate any crowd with her unique sense of humour and thoughtful lyricism, as well as the sweeping vocals she has become known for. On and off the stage, Samson has always been nothing but true to herself and her Cape Breton roots, guaranteeing a show that will leave you longing for more.

With a voice as powerful as a wayward freight train, singer-songwriter Joe H Henry bellows the flames of gritty roots with a whole lot of soul. The son of award-winning Canadian country musician Harvey Henry, Joe was born to sing. Gifted with a one-of-a-kind voice and a love for story telling through song, drawing from his musical roots and Metis heritage of the Red River Valley. Joe’s younger years were spent riding freight trains from town to town with nothing but a faithful dog and a guitar, collecting life lessons and harnessing the flame of inspiration that was often masked in struggle. Eventually settling down to raise a family, Joe moved to a homestead on North Mountain, Nova Scotia with his wife and five children in 2020
