New Jersey born and Atlanta raised, sadboy rapper Ray Reaves now lives in Halifax and releases his new EP – with able help from openers MAJE, Kxng Wooz and the Sarah Ellen Band – at The Carleton on Friday, March 2nd. Show time is 10 PM and it’s $7 at the door to get in on the action.

East Coast sadboy Ray Reaves found his early inspiration from the works of Drake, using his misfortune with the opposite sex as his muse. He’s dedicated the past 6 years to developing a vulnerable and authentic sound that replicates the way his brain processes his real-life situations. His lyrics display strong storytelling elements along with an utter lack of concern with oversharing. When asked about his sound Ray states “I’m sad and I rap good. I guess that’s why people like my music. Everyone’s a little bit sad sometimes and people like to dance to what they can relate to.”

In May of 2017 MAJE was one of 10 Canadian artist chosen to attend the SoCan Songwriting camp as a part of the ECMAs award weekend. In that same month he covered The Coast magazine to highlight his performance at OBEY. He also received 6 nominations from The Coast's Best of Halifax awards including
Best Solo Artist` and most likely to `make it big`. On June 29th he released his first digital release mixtape *Insert Flame Emojis Here* on Soundcloud and it has since been nominated for 2 awards including video of the year by Music Nova Scotia.
