Acclaimed Newfoundland duo Quote The Raven returns to The Carleton, for their first headlining show in almost two years, on Wednesday, October 9th. Rising star Braden Lam will open.  Show time is a civilized 7 PM and tickets are only $20 + HST. If you haven’t made it in the past, they are so worth seeing!

Quote the Raven (Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke) have been performing together for over a decade. The pair got their start in the small bars and pubs around St. John’s and in the past few years have rapidly grown to become a household name across Canada while steadily growing their international clout. The dynamic duo blend two harmonious voices into one, and their Americana-meets-East-Coast songwriting and stage dynamic prove irresistibly charming.

With over one million listens across all streaming platforms, it’s clear that Quote the Raven have been catching the attention of music lovers, which is apparent from their touring history as well. With one Cross Canadian Tour, five Eastern Canadian and two Western Canadian tours under their belts – and with more to come in 2023 and 2024 – the pair have performed at major folk festivals in Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Mission, Canmore, Bear Creek and Lunenburg, where they’ve performed to tens of thousands of attendees.

The 2019, 2021, and 2022 MusicNL Group of the Year has had official showcases in the US including Americanafest, NERFA, and the 2023 Folk Alliance, and have introduced their music to both Trinidad and Tobago, and Germany with hopes of continuing that global reach over the next two years. Their sophomore album, Can’t Hold the Light, explores the lives of working musicians won the 2022 East Coast Music Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and was also nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards. It’s clear to see that Quote the Raven are on an upward trajectory with no slowing down in sight.

Blending authentic songwriting with modern indie flare, Braden Lam (he/him) is forging the path to a new 21st century folk. The young artist from Halifax “crafts an expansive but intimate sonic world for us to lose ourselves in” (Earmilk) and was named “Nova Scotia’s emerging songwriting sensation” (Grid City Magazine) for his unique and award-winning musical style.
