Killer (in a good way!) local acts Pillow Fite & Good Dear Good gang up to co-headline “A Pisces Birthday Celebration” at The Carleton on Friday, February 25th. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $20 + HST.
Pillow Fite is a queer alt-folk duo from Halifax, NS formed by Art Ross (they/them) and Aaron Green (he/him) over voice memos and text messages of song ideas during the Covid lockdown.
Drawing influence from Phoebe Bridgers and Snail Mail, Pillow Fite use confessional, matter-of-fact lyrics over intricate guitar arrangements and lush dynamics. The duo’s vastly different musical approaches complement each other to produce sweet yet biting songs about road trips, queer love and mental health. Pillow Fite’s first single and video, Playing the Fool, was released April 30th, 2021. Two more singles are slated for release later on this year, with the band already in pre-production for their first full length release early 2022.
A romance between gritty and smooth. Down to earth with a beam of fluorescence. An accessible pop-rock sound with an alternative step further, rooted in the city of Halifax. Good Dear Good brings together clean guitar lines, warm bass, electrifying synth and a vital heartbeat behind each drum line. Lyrics bear their heart on their sleeves, made for getting under the skin and hitting too close to home. Three vastly different voices drive each song for a sound that is completely living, breathing, and above all, GOOD.
