The Carleton is delighted to host Mat Hughes for the release of his brand new EP ‘The Motions‘ with special guest Daniel James McFadyen. Show time is 7:30 PM on Thursday March 14th and tickets are $20 + HST.
Mat Hughes is a singer-songwriter who recently moved home to Nova Scotia after a long stint on the West Coast. Known for his earnest and introspective songwriting, Mat captivates listeners with his distinctive piano-driven folk melodies. His high-energy, percussive piano style creates an immersive experience that is both captivating and memorable. Behind the piano, Mat forms an intimate connection with his audiences through his witty, relatable, and often existentialist lyrics. This show will celebrate and mark the release of Mat’s new EP – ‘The Motions‘.
Born in Caledon, Ontario, rising indie-folk artist Daniel James McFadyen now calls Nova Scotia home. His storytelling and interactive shows have sold out across Canada. McFadyen’s debut album, August, I’m Yours, was released in 2021, and in a short time it helped secure his place in the Canadian music industry. Amidst a year of remarkable growth, McFadyen released his highly anticipated EP, Songs to Show Your Friends in October 2023. The singer-songwriter has been nominated for several ECMAs and Nova Scotia Music Awards including Folk Recording of the Year, Rising Star Recording of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.
