What’s funny about Father’s Day? Jay Malone at The Carleton, that’s what. As a father of three, Jay has a lot to say about the experience and a lot of that is funny. Don’t buy dad another tie, or cufflinks, or sock-heads for his golf clubs, take him out for dinner and a few laughs instead! In case you need reminding, Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 18th this year. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $15 advanced or $20 at the door.
Jay Malone has been headlining comedy clubs across North America for years. In 2003 he performed in the Homegrown Competition at the JUST FOR LAUGHS Festival, taking first place! He was invited back the very next year for a gala, becoming the only performer to accomplish this in back to back years.
In 2005 Jay shot his first nationally televised comedy special, an hour long episode of “COMEDY NOW!” which was chosen to represent the long standing series as its 100th episode. The special was met with critical acclaim and led to Jay’s nomination in the “Best Male Stand-up Comic” category at the 2005 Canadian Comedy Awards.
In addition to stand-up Jay is also an accomplished writer and actor. In 2006 he was cast as a lead in “HOUSE PARTY”, a CTV pilot that shot in Winnipeg. He has written and appeared on “COMEDY INC” for CTV in the 2005-08 seasons. In the fall of 2006 Jay made the move to Los Angeles and has appeared in several national commercial spots as well as a guest starring role in ABC’s “BOSTON LEGAL”.
Jay booked and shot a co-starring role in “WORST WEEK” a pilot for CBS and a guest starring role on “MAN OF YOUR DREAMS” a pilot for NBC. Jay currently lives and works in Los Angeles while continuing to tour with his stand-up. Most recently, Jay was casted in CityTV’s Package Deal which aired it’s first season in 2013.
In the interest of raising a family, Jay recently returned to his native Nova Scotia.
