Locals Folk & Country Line and Callehan team up to entertain you at The Carleton on Thursday, September 5th. Show time is 9 PM and admission is a reasonable $7 at the door.
Four strangers, through a series of fortunate circumstances, came together to form what they came to call The Folk and Country Line.
Singer/songwriter Robbie’s lyrics weave stories of times long gone, guts and glory, and the wanderlust that lives in the hearts of all folk singers. His driving guitar playing brings energy to his songs that often result in toe tapping and strange urges to learn to play the spoons. Robbie soon recruited guitar and banjo player Dan whose fast finger-picking and colourful solos added new depth and flavour to the band. After several shows, ups and downs, the band welcomed violinist/vocalist Kayla. Kayla’s playing detuned the band’s collective heartstrings and the only way to get them back in tune was to have her join, and become a defining member of the band. Later her songwriting prowess began to shine through, giving the band tunes like Run and Doors of Insanity.
As great men once said “what a long strange trip it’s been.” The Folk and Country Line will keep picking, grinning and traveling on.
