Cory Tetford celebrates (with some very special guests) the Halifax release of his latest album – In The Morning – with a show at The Carleton on Wednesday, June 7th. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $20 advanced or $25 at the door.
In The Morning features the incredible voice and songwriting of a man raised on Gospel and country music and stellar musicianship and guitar skills honed in countless performances nationaly and internationally over the past twenty-five years. Co-produced by Tetford and long-standing friend and musical collaborator Alan Doyle, this 10 song collection of music features performances by renowned fiddler, Kendel Carson, rising star Reeny Smith, as well as legendary string performer/arranger Kevin Fox.
The songs speak to Tetford’s influences and experiences on and off stage. The stirring country-tinged title track, written with Canadian legend Barney Bentall, tells of a gypsy musician and the road not taken. You can close your eyes and feel the dance floor of a blues bar beneath your feet with the swinging, Gonna Be Alright. The gospel choir sings loud and proud in Gone. And with Over And Over, in what Tetford calls the most deeply personal song of his career, we learn of the tragic loss of a loved one.
In The Morning Follows the 1999 release of his critically acclaimed debut solo, Grace, and two releases with award-winning roots rock band Crush, featuring Tetford and fellow musician Paul Lamb.
As a player, singer, engineer and producer, Tetford has worked on dozens of other recordings and has toured with Matt Andersen, Ron Hynes, Damhnait Doyle, Alan Doyle and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra.
