Comedy for a Cause is a variety comedy show filled with stand-up comedy, improv and acting! The show host’s cat needs very expensive ear surgery and what better way to raise funds for her fur baby than giving back and allowing people to have a night filled with laughter and fun. The benefit happens at The Carleton on Saturday, June 8th at 7 PM and tickets are only $15 + HST.
Vanessa Allen is an artist and comedian. In 2020, she graduated with Honours with a B.A. in Theatre from Dalhousie University. Since graduating, she has found her love for stand-up comedy and began performing in 2021 around various clubs and open mics in Halifax. She also has co-written a fringe play and contributed to writing sketch comedy and TV shows. Her humour borders the line of dry wit and self-deprecation. She hopes you laugh at her as much as she laughs at herself and couldn’t be happier putting on this show for her fur baby Bea!
Sarah Maclellan is the host, producer and creative force behind the InTalksicated Podcast and the Scott vs. Sarah Podcast. She started as fan and quickly fell in love with stand-up and starting performing in July of 2020. She’s performed at YukYuks, Darkside Comedy Club and is a regular at the weekly open mics in Halifax. She also produced and hosted podcast live shows, variety shows and various Taylor Swift events in the HRM. As a dedicated content creator, she brings a unique blend of humour, creativity and community engagement to every project she undertakes.
With her dry, dark wit, Carolyn Davis has been entertaining audiences across Canada, the US and Europe since the 1990’s. Hers is the only weekly trans-run comedy show in the Maritimes, which she’s had for the past 2 years in Dartmouth. As a cat lover she’s very happy to be here at Comedy For a Cause!
Joseph Harfouche has been doing improv since 2014 – you can find him around town putting together wacky shows. Guaranteed to leave you saying yes, and – please more.
Colin Dunphy is a comedian who draws self-worth from the laughter of strangers, so please laugh extra hard at his jokes. He needs it.
Danielle Toner is a theatre actor and collaborator. She received her B.A. Honours from Dalhousie University’s Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) in 2020. Recent credits include Becca (Theatre New Brunswick), The S.S. Ethie and Ed & Ed’s New B &B (The Gros Morne Theatre Festival as part of Newfoundland Labrador Theatre), and 20/20 Vision play reading (The Villains Theatre at the Busstop Theatre). Danielle and Vanessa are frequent collaborators, often in clowning workshops or playwriting, so she looks forward to performing with Vanessa for the queen herself- Bea!
Combining wry observation with warm-hearted self-deprecation, Kyle Carpenter is a bearhug of a man and a BC Transplant to the East Coast. He is the co-writer of the award-winning Fringe play, “50 Shades of Vinyl,” a completely unauthorized erotic parody of the works of Stuart McLean, and has been heard on Sirius XM as part of Just For Laughs Originals.
Brandon Michael is a Halifax based stand-up comedian, and sketch writer/performer. Known for his off-beat style and absurdist writing, he also produces one-off shows in unique locations like laundromats, skateparks, and the roof of his apartment building. In 2022 and 2023 Brandon opened for the Kenny VS Spenny Canadian tour.
Adam Myatt is a stand-up comedian, writer and artist who lives, works and vibes in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
