Don’t miss the chance to be part of this extraordinary celebration of East Coast talent!
With her latest ECMA nominated album Storm more sweeping and orchestral than ever before, Christina Martin is going from strength to strength. It’s a fine thing to be a lyrical troubadour with honest lyrics that cut like a razor, and it’s a fine thing to be a performer who can make hips shake and tears flow at the drop of a casual chord. But to hold both in the palm of your hand, as Martin does with such grace, is downright remarkable. Resolute, raw, and infinitely listenable, Christina Martin is like the wind. Her music can be gentle as a kiss upon your cheek, but if you’re caught off guard it can carry you away, and has the power behind it to blow your house down.
Every once in a while, award-winning songwriter Andrea England – and founder of the popular songwriter concert series, Four Chords and the Truth – reminds us that she is singer-songwriter first. On her latest work, the ambient Americana Evidence of Love – produced by JUNO Award winner Hill Kourkoutis – England dug deep into her Nova Scotian roots, penning 5 of the 7 tracks alone (with additional cowrites with Tenille Townes, Liz Rodrigues and James Bryan). Fellow Nova Scotian Carleton Stone can be heard singing harmony vocals on the first single “Halifax,” a song England wrote about the conflicted emotions that come from living away from home: “I started my life and artist career in Halifax, and my time there influenced a big part of who I am as a woman and songwriter.”
Raised in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, the now Toronto-based songwriter’s songs have been recorded by the likes of country artists Meghan Patrick, Twin Kennedy, Don Amero, Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger and more. Andrea’s previous body of work, 2012’s Hope and Other Sins, produced by Grammy winning producer, Colin Linden, spent several weeks on Cashbox Canada’s top 50 folk chart and hit No. 1 on Galaxy’s folk roots radio channel; and her 2004 debut album, Lemonade, produced by Northern Pikes’ Bryan Potvin, was nominated for multiple NS Music Awards, and honoured by the USA, International, and John Lennon Songwriting Competitions.
New Mills, New Brunswick born. and Halifax-based, Lisa Richard is at home in front of an audience with her guitar. Whether she is performing at a community fundraiser, showcasing at the East Coast Muisc Awards, or sharing the stage with Vince Gill & The Time Jumpers, Richard captivates listeners with her powerful vocal range, inspiring story and true passion for music and life,
Her vocal stylings have been cimpared to Cher, Wynonna Judd and Tracy Chapman. Richard’s genre extends across folk, country, pop and rock; she’s performed across North America and Europe.
