West Coast meets East Coast for an early show to warm up a fall night on Friday, November 3rd with Vancouver’s Chris Ronald and local songstress Leona Burkey in support of Ronald’s Fragments cross-country tour. Show time is 7 PM and admission is $10 at the door.
Chris Ronald’s “keenly luxuriant voice and immaculate songcraft” (The Georgia Straight) have won him many accolades including a nomination for “Songwriter of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Now living in Vancouver, Chris emigrated from England in 2002, and his music has been described as Canadian folk with British roots. 2017 saw his fourth album, Fragments, released on esteemed Canadian folk label Borealis Records, and he’s currently touring it across Canada.
In live performance, Chris draws on his abilities as a highly skilled singer, storyteller and musician to deliver a captivating show.
Leona Burkey is a relatively new old soul on the NS singer-songwriter scene, known for genuine, cozy live shows, spinning yarns and songs that are fresh as a sea breeze, yet somehow familiar – wrapping you up in her favourite Cape Breton patchwork quilt. Leona will bring along trusty guitar man Doug Sampson, some new tunes and favourites from Wave Theory and other recordings.
