Holly Arsenault teams up with vocalist extraordinaire, Linda Carvery, for a night of sweet tunes at The Carleton on Sunday, July 28th. Show time is a civilized 7 PM and tickets are $27.50 + HST.

The piano has been Holly Arsenault‘s favourite toy since the ripe old age of 4 when she came upon the tired old upright at her grandmother’s house in Cape Breton.  In the years since, she has traveled the globe as a pit musician, music director, sideman, soloist and leader of her own trio . These days, Holly lives and plays in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with forays into the wider world as opportunities and adventures beckon . . .

Accomplished jazz/blues/gospel singer Linda Carvery began her musical journey at the Cornwallis Street Baptist Church in Halifax – a journey that has taken her to Washington’s Capitol Hill where she performed with the Nova Scotia Mass Choir during the 30th anniversary celebrations of Martin Luther King’s March.  In her late teens, Carvery traveled throughout the Maritimes as a vocalist with composer and pianist Joe Sealy and saxophonist Bucky Adams. She later embarked on a solo career, recording her first CD Yesterday/Today, for which she was awarded the East Coast Music Award for Best Jazz Artist. She is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the African Nova Scotian Music Association.  Her concern for the well-being of others and her contributions to the music community have earned her an Honourary Doctor of Letters.
