Reprising his hugely popular Carleton Stone at The Carleton songwriters’ series, he’s back on our stage in 2024 – with special guests Nicole Ariana and Quake Matthews – for a matinée performance on Sunday January 28th. Doors open at 12 noon for brunch and beverages. Show time is 1 PM and tickets are $25 + HST.
Carleton Stone is an award-winning artist, a songwriter with a growing list of credits, and a founding member of the hugely successful Port Cities. He has recently added producer to his list of accomplishments with both Willie Stratton’s award winning “Drugstore Dreamin” and his own self produced, Papercut – a collection of sophisticated singer-songwriter pop with well-crafted lyrics and memorable melodies.
An outstanding writer, Carleton has written songs for and with such diverse artists as Ria Mae, Matt Andersen, The East Pointers, Quake, Donovan Woods, Classified, Bobby Bazini, and Neon Dreams.
Carleton has three solo records to his credit, multiple awards, and has toured internationally, most recently in the US with The Crash Test Dummies where he received an outstanding response to his solo show.
Songwriting powerhouse Nicole Ariana celebrates the release of her debut album, Crybaby. Fusing hypnotic Alt-RnB/Pop vocals with moody electronic production, the LP brings to light a young woman’s longing for lost love in dark times, trying to fill the void in dim corners and old memories. Channeling the notion of addictive love as a constant, CRYBABY stays true to Ariana’s affinity for sensual and melancholy underground sonics, catchy hooks, and pop-oriented production.
Written between London, Berlin and Halifax, the LP features a host of heavy-hitting collaborations with producers such as JUNO winner Corey LeRue (Twice, Neon Dreams), Grammy nominee Geo Jordan (Doja Cat), Breagh Isabel (Classified, Donovan Woods), and Dylan Guthro (Ria Mae, Port Cities), and songwriters such as Grammy nominee Laura Roy (“Planet Her” by Doja Cat), Jodi Guthro, and Kayleigh O’Connor, among others.
Halifax emcee Quake Matthews (formerly Quake) has proven that persistence, hard-work and passion go hand in hand to survive in this music industry. Since emerging from the underground battle rap scene in his early teens, the hungry street savvy lyricist has aimed to create a sound that brings back the classic essence of hip-hop. In lass than a decade, Quake has transformed his humble rap beginnings into a slew of critically-acclaimed recording projects and videos. With a relentless work ethic, Quake is a true testament to his East Coast upbringing.
His newest single, Try, is out now!
