Originally hailing from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, musician Brett Matthews brings a refreshing take to the americana genre by combining an eclectic list of influences from R&B, Pop to Country and Folk, to create a unique expression that is melancholic, nostalgic and beautifully musical. He shares similarities with Bon Iver, City & Colour, City & Colour, SYML & Noah Kahan.
In 2019 Brett started playing guitar for Canadian hip-hop artist Classified’s touring band, and since then has played over 50+ shows with large crowds all across Canada. In 2024 Brett had his first JUNOfest performance, and ECMA Showcase. His song “If I Die Today” (featuring Classified) also won 2nd place in the (2023) American Songwriter Competition out of Nashville, TN, with judges Jelly Roll, Tommy Lee and Julia Michaels. He is currently on the road with Classified again for his “Welcome To The Maritimes Tour” featuring Ria Mae, Choclair, JRDN, DJ IV & O’Sound.
