Always happy to provide a stage for talented young musicians, The Carleton is pleased to announce that Avery Dakin with her band and Good Dear Good (Jade Bennett has had to drop out due to illness) will team up for a show on Thursday, January 26th. Show time is a civilized 7:30 PM and tickets are $20 + HST.
Steeped in the vintage sensibilities and powerful emotion of Amy Winehouse, paired with her dreamy, delicate vocals reminiscent of the crooners of eras past, Avery Dakin fuses old and new in her dynamic, thoughtfully crafted music. Dakin’s lyrical sensitivity, unique storytelling, and varied arrangements and styles can be found, emerging from the shadows into the light, in her debut EP Settle Down, which grapples with themes of mental health, love, loss, and living with a heart that is entirely too big.
Good Dear Good is a four-piece powerhouse that brings together a sound that is living, breathing, and above all, good.A romance between gritty and smooth. Down to earth with a beam of fluorescence. A gripping pop-rock sound with an alternative step further, based in the city of Halifax.
Immersive harmonies, bold guitar, warm bass, electrifying synth, and a vital heartbeat behind each drum line. Lyrics bear their heart on their sleeves, made for getting under the skin and hitting too close to home.
