Our annual Valentine’s Day chanteuse Ariana Nasr – with musical partner Curtis Thorpe – returns to The Carleton to celebrate the release of her new album, Padam Padam, on Tuesday, June 12th. Show time is a civilized 7:30 PM and tickets are $20.
With Padam Padam, Ariana Nasr and Curtis Thorpe have assembled a collection of classic popular songs from France, the Balkans and North America. This CD is sung in 4 languages and performed using the myriad instruments played by Nasr & Thorpe: guitar, saxophone, harmonicas, violin, clarinet, accordion, bass, and percussion. The songs At Last and Ne me quitte pas also feature special guest Tom Roscoe on baby grand piano.
Bringing back classics from around the world in a way you have not heard them performed before, Nasr & Thorpe pull out all the stops to keep you entertained. From soaring soul songs to French heartbreak and many things in between, Ariana will eke every last ounce of emotion from every last note she sings or die trying. When she needs a short break from singing she will pound out a soprano saxophone, violin or accordion solo. At the same time Curtis is a one-man band playing guitar, harmonica, and percussion simultaneously. Together they will transport you long ago and far away with their vintage song selections!
“Ariana and Curtis were amazing! Way beyond my expectations.”
“Wow! You know those happy moments, when you just say to yourself, ‘This is a happy moment?’ Well, last night was a three hour happy moment…“
