Making their Carleton debut, Blue Spirits packs an extra punch for this one-of-a-kind show! The soulful fivesome will be joined by powerhouse singer Tiffinie Laing (Unidentified Funk Object) for a bumpin’ bonus set of classic 90’s R&B hits on Friday, June 29th. Show time is 10 PM and admission is $10 at the door. Get there early!
Blue Spirits sounds like a modern riff on Chet Baker. Fronted by singer/trumpeter Paul St-Amand, their sound blends blue-eyed soul, cool jazz, classic R&B, blues, and indie folk. Outstanding original tunes mingle with stunning takes on Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Hank Williams, Eric Clapton, Amos Lee, Elvis Costello, and (of course) Baker. Last year the band released their debut album “Liquid Courage”, which scored a NS Music Award nomination for Jazz Recording of the Year.
Blue Spirits is Paul St-Amand (trumpet, flugelhorn & vocals), Kyle Varley (keyboards & vocals), Ross Avey (guitar), Luke Arsenault (bass), and Charles Urich (drums).
