With sincerest apologies for the short notice… due to last minute changes in musician commitments, we must POSTPONE this evening’s celebration of the life of our dear friend Stuart Jolliffe.
====
While we were planning our 10th anniversary celebrations, a terrible thing happened; one of our staunchest supporters, and friend to musicians everywhere – Stuart Jolliffe – died suddenly in Toronto. To honour his memory and celebrate his far too short life, The Carleton is hosting a night of music for him on Friday, May 11th. We’re inviting his music-playing friends to bash out some tunes, tell some stories and to raise glasses to toast him. We’ll even be playing Stu’s killer playlists during the night. We’ll be kicking things off around 9 PM and will be collecting money (suggested $20 donation) at the door for his charity of choice – The Unison Benevolent Fund.
If you can’t come to the show but would like to make a donation in Stuart’s name to Unison, you can do that HERE.
Before leaving to take the GM job at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Stuart spent 16 years managing the two Delta hotels in Halifax. He was a great corporate leader, occupying seats on the Tourism Board of NS and Music Nova Scotia, as well as sponsoring the East Coast Music Awards and co-chairing the Juno Awards in 2006. He was also responsible for raising over half a million dollars on behalf of Habitat for Humanity with Delta’s annual Raise A Little Hellp fundraisers – for our money, the best corporate shows in the city.
Although he was firmly a man in the hotel business, his passion was music and he is remembered by countless artists for his generosity and unwavering support, both morally and financially. He will be greatly missed and certainly never replaced.
