The Nova Scotia Community College‘s music program’s annual Nova Fest returns to The Carleton on Tuesday, May 1st. This year’s crop of bands are Lazeez, Azure Soul and Frozen Ocean. Show time is 8 PM and admission is $7 at the door.
Lazeez mix a plethora of musical genres concocted to create a big juicy dish of dancefloor-shaking tunes. The band is an eclectic group of musicians all based in Halifax, NS. They enjoy a fusion of Jazz, R’n’B, Soul, Pop and World Music and push each other to create an original mix suitable for sharing – essentially Neo-Soul with a little bit of Odd-Time Disco and Freak Funk. Bottom line: they just wanna surprise you and make you dance with their music.
Azure Soul is a blues band that has a wide range of influences from the Beatles, to Jimmy Reed, to Louis Prima. With sweet vocal harmonies and groovy rhythms, they are here to get you on your feet and make you feel a little less blue.
Frozen Ocean is a soft-to-hard rock group that takes influences from across the rock spectrum to give you a diverse, blended sound featuring folk-rock, to punk-rock and everything in between… get ready for rockin’ riffs all coated in sugary-sweet vocal harmonies.
