In The Dead Of Winter presents a “warm up” show with Winnipeg-born, now Hamilton-based Iskwé, Arsoniste and Vancouver’s Rococode at The Carleton on Friday, November 10th. Show time is 9 PM and tickets are available through IDOW HERE.

Named one of the Top 10 Canadian Musicians You Need to Know by CBC Music, Iskwé’s cross-cultural aesthetic is as striking as her tripped-out blend of soul.

Unafraid to challenge the convictions of her detractors by honouring her heritage, standing steadfast in her viewpoints, and embracing her sexuality, Iskwé’s artistry knows no bounds. Blending soulful, breathlessly delivered lyrics that are coloured by the many shades of human nature with a sonic palette that takes its queue from the shadowy atmospherics of the 1990s Bristol sound, Iskwé’s music revels in her strength of self and that is her true rallying cry.

Arsoniste (Rachel Sunter) is a synth-pop singer-songwriter from Halifax, NS. She uses vocal effects, loops, and layered keyboards to transform piano-based songs into rich, orchestral pieces, with hip-hop inspired beats.

Arsoniste’s debut EP Where There Is Dark received two nominations for the 2016 Music Nova Scotia Awards (Best New Artist and Pop Recording of the Year).

Rococode’s strength lies in the contrast between dark and light. Andrew Braun and Laura Smith infuse hook-filled songs with lush synths and duet vocals, resulting in an infectious sound that mirrors their contrasting personalities. The new EP Young Ones highlights this chemistry by fusing exploratory tendencies with razor-sharp pop sensibilities.
