The Halifax Urban Folk Festival Presents the Canadian Folk Music Awards’ Emerging Artist of the Year – The Young Novelists – along with Leanne Hoffman (Magnolia) and Jont at The Carleton on Tuesday, May 31st. Show time is 8 PM and, thanks to HUFF, this show is FREE!
The duo version of The Young Novelists – Graydon James and Laura Spink – will be headlining this special HUFF show. The new album, Made Us Strangers, has been garnering plenty of attention, including a Canadian Folk Music award for Emerging Artist of the Year, no small feat in a country as blessed with songwriting talent as this one is.
Leanne Hoffman (from Halifax band Magnolia) – most recently seen at The Carleton singing back-up for HUFF shows with, among others, Chuck Prophet – is one of the openers on this bill. We’re looking forward to having her beautiful voice coming off our stage.
Jont takes a solo turn tonight after completing a successful run of dates to Ontario and back earlier this spring with his Infinite Possibilities band. His much-anticipated An Old Innocence album is preceded by the super-catchy single, Someone To Love Me.
