Leona Burkey will host and provide entertainment for our second annual Light It Up Blue fundraiser to benefit Autism Nova Scotia at The Carleton on Sunday, April 17th. She’ll be joined by David Bradshaw and other special guests. Show time for this worthy cause is 7 PM and admission is only $10 at the door.
Two local singer-songwriters (and special guests) Light it Up Blue for this 2nd Annual Benefit for Autism Nova Scotia. April is Autism Awareness Month and ALL PROCEEDS go to support this community-based organization that fosters understanding, acceptance, and collaborative approaches for those living with Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout Nova Scotia.
Leona Burkey is a new-old soul in Nova Scotia’s songwriter scene – known for spinning yarns, articulate guitar playing and honest lyrics. Her latest project “Wave Theory” (full-length debut) reflects the sounds of home and the long road back. Thru the end of April 2016, all proceeds from single downloads of the title track “Wave Theory” (iTunes) will go to Autism NS as well.
David Bradshaw is a Newfoundland born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in . David’s first CD, “No Place” was nominated for the Music Nova Scotia Best Folk Recording of the Year in 2009. He has performed several times on the ECMA stage, and plays solo and with his band at venues around Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. David’s second CD, “Songs from the Former County”, was released in July 2014.
