Our favourite, criminally under-looked, singer/songwriter, Ian Janes, returns in solo mode to sing songs and tell stories at The Carleton on Sunday, March 23rd. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $25 + HST.
After the recent strange experience of having an entire 20 song A.I generated album (‘Street Alone’) uploaded to his streaming profiles posing as him, Ian Janes felt like he needed a night of real, human connection to wash off the digital filth of the increasingly bizarre world of the internet.
Ian’s solo acoustic shows are about much more than just the delivery of his songs; he makes the audience feel connected to the music by sharing stories of its inspiration and creation. He welcomes the audience to reach out ahead of time digitally or shout out requests (preferably between songs!) during the show; but please….nothing from ‘Street Alone’ please!!!
Ian Janes draws from Soul, R&B, Pop, Jazz and more, but truly has his own compelling voice as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer.his dynamic guitar playing, compelling voice, humour and charismatic presence capture and hold the audience’s attention from the first note to the last.
From charting in Hip-Hop and Country music, becoming a semi-finalist in SiriusXM’s ‘Top of The Country’ contest and writing on a Juno-nominated Blues album (Matt Andersen), Ian Janes is a 6x East Coast Music Award nominee and ‘Album of the Year’ winner from Music Nova Scotia. His music has been featured on CMT, Nickelodeon, HBO and NBC. Early in his career, Macleans magazine listed him as one of 100 Canadians to watch, predicting his enduring career.
In 2023-24 Ian’s songs ‘Everything Right’ and ‘Amnesia’ were sampled by multi-platinum selling Canadian hip hop legend Classified for his latest album, Luke’s View.
