Local band Esdaile – with able assistance from opener Jake Ballard – make their Carleton début on Thursday, February 13th. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $15 + HST or $20 + HST at the door.
Hailing from the Dartmouth underbelly, Esdaile is not unfamiliar with gritty folk tales and memorable hooks. A new flavour of country, modern R&B infused evenly with a rock undercurrent, Esdaile channels the performance drama of characters like Joe Cocker, the grit of Chris Stapleton, & the smooth nature of Sinatra. ‘Harbouring’ the Dartmouth side, Esdaile has a sleek sound and sultry aura that will leave listeners with an itch for more.
Jake Ballard‘s music is a mosaic of roots-rock, psychedelic and acoustic soundscapes drawing influences from across the 20th century, anything from Link Wray to The Cranberries. Often performing with a signature virtuosic fingerpicking guitar style, Ballard’s catalog is a spectrum of relaxed inviting pieces and psychedelic electric anthems. His diverse and unpredictable musicianship is known for keeping audiences hooked from the first chord to the last note.
