We really like this soulful kid, Josh Lake, so we’re having him back to The Carleton – along with The Next Quest – on Thursday, January 28th. Show time is 9 PM and it’ll be $5 at the door to get in.
I don’t know why there are so many really good soul bands in Halifax – like Roxy & TUSS, Mellotones, Ian Janes, Jacob Strang, The Chess Club – but there are, and Josh is definitely in that company. He reminds me a little of a young Colin James at times and, believe me, that’s a very good thing in my books. His band is smokin’ hot too. You should totally give him a good look and listen.
The Next Quest is an up-and-coming jazz septet, formed by Ally Fiola, that performs original charts and arranged pop tunes. Their repertory includes classics by Lady Gaga, Pitbull, The Bad Touch and more. It features 4 horn players and 3 rhythm players, and shows off our ability to improvise, arrange and have fun!
