Country comes to The Carleton as Song City presents two up-and-coming locals – Jason Price and Makayla Lynn – on Thursday, January 21st. The show will start a little earlier than usual for a Thursday at 8 PM. Admission is $10 at the door.
Jason Price is a performing singer/songwriter from Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. Jason’s “True Roots” brand of Country Music brings the flavour of current country with hints and honest tones of classic country music. Jason recently recorded his debut full length Album in Nashville, TN. Grit, Guts and Country Pride was released in the summer 0f 2015.
Jason bought a secondhand guitar in December of 2011 to teach his kids a life lesson – that if you stick to what you start, you will get better and it will reward you in many ways.
In less than a year, Jason played his first live public performance, wrote his first song, performed in a sold out soft seater show put on by a local promoter and made his television debut on CTV’s Christmas Daddies.
Jason followed that up in year two by hosting a weekly acoustic open mic where he continues honing his skills as a performing songwriter. He became the front man of his own band and has built up a local fan base in multiple venues and festivals. Jason entered and won the Canada Day Idol competition in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; as well as the Frank Spinney Talent Show in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. In addition, he began working with a local music producer and publisher to start planning and preparing his music for a Nashville-produced CD.
Picked by Reverbnation as one of only 250 artists from an original 3.7 million entrants for their breakout artist CONNECT program, Makayla Lynn is a fresh face with the vocals, songwriting ability and stage presence that many call unprecedented for her age. The ECMA, Music NS and IMEA nominated artist boasts more than 850,000 video views from over 23,000 social media fans with the numbers climbing rapidly.
