From its inception, Tom Roach has been a frequent participant in the Halifax jazz festival. As a drummer/percussionist side man he has performed with a multitude of artists, including perennial favourites Salsa Picante. In 2006 Tom was a featured performer with his ECMA award winning PianoTrios project. He’s returning to that spotlight with a stellar quintet performing music from his new recording, The Between Times. Featuring Mike Murley (sax), Adrean Farrugia (keys), Richard White (guitar), Jamie Gatti (bass)
Bellbird is collective of Montreal-based musicians. Their unique instrumentation of two woodwinds, bass, and drums, allows them to explore sonic landscapes that allude to harmony without being restricted by it. Original compositions by each band member showcase their diverse sets of influences, including jazz, avant-garde, and folk music. Their music is driven by concepts of isolation and resurgence. Bellbird consists of Allison Burik on alto saxophone and bass clarinet, Claire Devlin on tenor saxophone, Eli Davidovici on bass, and Mili Hong on drums.
