Norma MacDonald – with able support from Carmel Mikol – returns to The Carleton on Friday, November 11th. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $25 + HST.
Norma MacDonald is a golden voiced singer-songwriter residing in Halifax, NS. Her marriage of old folk-country stylings and contemporary troubadour influences have assured her consistent success since the release of her first album ‘Nothing is Where it Was’ in 2005. Since then she has gone on to record full-length 5 albums, including 2020’s ‘Old Future‘, released in the early days of the pandemic but nonetheless went on to win glowing reviews in North America and the UK. It garnered an ECMA and Music Nova Scotia nominations in 2021 for Country Recording of the Year. She is currently working on her 6th album with Juno nominated producer Daniel Ledwell.
As a full time singer-songwriter, Carmel Mikol has toured across North America and Europe, sharing stages with Canadian greats like Ria Mae, Norma MacDonald, and Kim Wempe. She played some of Canada’s legendary folk festivals including Mariposa Folk and Lunenburg Folk Fest and was the Grand Winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (Folk Category) for her protest song Twenty Something Girl. She has released four albums, charted on Canadian college radio, and has three East Coast Music Award nominations.
