Berklee College of Music student Connie May, accompanied by Holly Arsenault – with openers Oh Alice and Nathan Simmons – makes her début at The Carleton a homecoming on Wednesday, August 3rd. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $25 + HST. This will be an intimate performance showcasing songs from her upcoming 2022 album.

Connie May is a singer/ songwriter who is well-known for her vibrant energy, powerful vocals, and show-stopping performances. Writing in the genre of Pop/Rnb, she is also well-versed in musical theatre. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she received first place in Junior Musical Theatre at the 2019 Nova Scotia Provincial Music Festival, received multiple first-place titles in the Kiwanis Music Festival, and has even directed her own show featuring youth performers with disabilities for the Halifax Fringe Festival. Growing up, May immersed herself in Neptune’s Youth Performance Company productions and taught musical theatre to children at the Neptune theatre school.

May has studied voice under Zoey Leger; Vera Savage; as well as Gabrielle Goodman, who has worked alongside names such as Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Nancy Wilson, and Roberta Flack. She studies songwriting under Paula Gallitano, who has worked with Luala Hathaway and Tina Turner. She also studies lyric writing under Pat Pattison, who revolutionized the process of songwriting, teaching the likes of John Mayer and countless others. Today she is based in Boston Massachusetts attending the Berklee College of Music, the leading institution for contemporary music in the world. 

Come enjoy an intimate night where Connie May acoustically tells her story. May is bringing to life her unreleased originals, which will soon air to the rest of the world. She is playing with Holly Arsenault who is The Coast’s Best of Halifax two-time Jazz Artist Gold Winner. There are two opening acts for May, Oh Alice and Nathan Simmons. Oh Alice is a Berklee College Of Music student who recently released her first single “Hurricane”, and Nathan Simmons is a local actor/ musician who also has music out on all platforms.
