Locals Jade Bennett + MAJE + Tom Rich team up for a funky show at The Carleton on Thursday, October 17th. Show time is 9 PM and admission is only $6 at the door.

Jade Bennett is a genre-bending creative force. Heavily influenced by confessional style songwriters like Taylor Swift, her songs read like ripped pages from her journal, because most of them are. She’s been writing music for over 10 years and worked with artists across multiple genres. This year she released her debut single ‘August’, recorded/produced by Josh Kelly (DJ Dollar) on the platform, Soundcloud. She’s currently working on new music with a new band and preparing for her first showcase and second nomination at Nova Scotia Music Week in November.

27-year old MAJE first gained recognition in 2015 when he entered and won a Music Nova Scotia songwriting competition for his work based on black activist Viola Desmond. In 2017, MAJE was one of ten Canadian artists chosen to attend songwriting camp as a part of the East Coast Music Awards. The same year, he released his first digital album Insert Flame Emojis Here. The album received several nominations, including video and new artist recording of the year, at that year’s Music Nova Scotia Awards. As Casino Nova Scotia’s newly appointed artist-in-residence, MAJE will receive $20,000 in funding to assist with his career development and performance opportunities at Casino Nova Scotia locations in Halifax and Sydney.

Tom Rich is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist & songwriter from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. With a strong, wide-ranging singing voice, and a mix of cover songs & original works, Tom performs solo with his acoustic guitar, and also on bass with a full back-up band. Tom’s 2 previous independent albums, The Journey (Feb 2014) and American Fantasy (Sept 2015), were tracked in his Trailer Park home in Beaverbank, with Tom on all instruments and arrangements. American Fantasy was entirely self-produced including the engineering and mixing of the recording.
