Locals Stand Back, with special guests Dark Lit Sky return to The Carleton on Thursday, August 15th. Show time is 9 PM and admission is only $5 at the door!
Stylish guitar riffs, a grooving blues-rock rhythm section, and the versatility of three lead vocalists all combine to form Stand Back’s unique sonic identity – a fusion of rock, blues, pop, and folk music that can only be classified as Canadiana. The lineup consists of Jacob Ballard on guitar and keys, Ben Matthews on Bass, and Aidan Coady on drums, with all three supplying their own distinct vocals and songwriting.
A dynamic modern-day jam band, Stand Back has been cutting their teeth and gaining fans the old fashioned way – one kick-ass show at a time.
Dark Lit Sky is a three-piece alt-rock band that offers an indie-rock sound with nostalgic riffs. Deeply personal, but universally relatable, front-man Jason Freeman creates songs with deeper meanings and lingering hooks.
The band is made up of Freeman (vocals/guitar), Trevor Wentzell (keys and horns) and Tom MacGillivray (bass and vocals). Born and raised in Riverview, New Brunswick, Freeman has been writing and playing in bands since a young teenager, moving to Halifax at the end of the 90s. He started to work with Trevor and Tom and together, launching Dark Lit Sky in 2013 with their self-titled album.
The new album, titled Makes Me Wonder, was recorded at the Echo Chamber Studio with Charles Austin and produced by Mike O’Neill. Guest artists include Joel, Phil Sedore, Justin McGrath, Luke MacGillivray and was released in early 2019.
