While a lot of the music community is off to Truro this weekend for Nova Scotia Music Week, our own Laura Merrimen, with able assistance from Talon Beek will be playing some swell soul and blues at The Carleton on Friday, November 2nd. With vocal stylings haunted by the soul singers of yesteryear, Canadian siren Laura Merrimen‘s songwriting is bona fide and captivating. She is an old soul who wears her Americana-drenched heart on her sleeve. Keeping true to her roots, she infuses a blend of rock’n’roll know-how with catchy country/soul melodies and what is produced is a smoky wistful trip down a memory lane you didn’t previously know existed.
